The current trend toward tattoo images around the world is reflected in the U.S. as over 30 million people have at least one tattoo. The style and design of each tattoo choice usually reflects the personality of the one who wears it. It’s not unusual to see tattoos ranging from the demonic to the angelic, the sacred to the sinful. Right now there are two ancient languages that are at the heart of a tattoo trend – Latin and Hebrew. Celebrities who wear tats are very infuential in these fad movements. A case in point would be the soccer star David Beckham. He and his wife, Victoria, both sport tattoo impressions of Hebrew phrases. In fact, both of them have Biblical phrases from the book entitled “Song of Songs”. Other celebrities who are showing some Hebrew flash are Madonna and Britney Spears. If you are wanting a tat with spiritual significance in Hebrew script I might make one suggestion…find a tattoo artist who really knows Hebrew as it is a difficult language to translate. You don’t want to walk around with a Hebrew tat that actually says something quite differenct than you intended! Latin, on the other hand, is a much simpler language to translate. It was at one time the major language of Europe and is the base language of our modern English. David and Victoria Beckham both have a Latin tattoo as well. Angelina Jolie has a Latin tat on her lower stomach. Don’t kid yourself, these type of celebrities are walking billboards for the tattoo industry. If you’re ego is needing a little lift you might have the Latin phrase “veni, vidi, vici” inscribed on your bicep. It means “I came, I saw, I conquered”. Pretty lofty message isn’t it? Maybe you want to encourage others with a chest message “luceat lux vestra” which means “let your light shine”. I like that a little better! Whatever your taste or motive you might find that another language is just what your looking for in the realm of tattoo design ideas!
